Unifying Business and Education Conference – June 24, 2009
In a collaborative effort between Aspire P-16 and the Springfield Foundation, a one-day summit that will serve as a unifying rally for education and business in Springfield and Clark County is planned for Wednesday, June 24 at the Courtyard by Marriott.
The theme of the event is “Education is Everyone’s Business: A Call to Unite for the Success of Students and Businesses in Clark County.” The summit will have keynote speakers and breakout sessions to address the community’s most pressing educational concerns.
Keynote speakers include Dave Hobson, former U.S. Representative for the 7th District; Jim Leftwich, Director of the Dayton Development Coalition; Deb Delisle, Ohio State Superintendent of Public Education; and Karen Stiles, Executive Director of Aspire P-16. Topics for breakout sessions include Forecast of Future Jobs; Preparing the Workforce; How Employers Support Education; Plugging the Brain Drain; Support of Poverty; Family Support for Education; Pathways to College/Career; A Conversation with the State Superintendent of Education; School Readiness.
The program is designed for educators and business men and women. Continuing Education Credits are available for social workers and educators. The summit will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and cost $35, which includes breakfast and lunch.
