WIth over $43 million in assets, the Springfield Foundation is comprised of more than 250 individual charitable funds--each with a purpose that mirrors a donor or family's particular philanthropic goals.

While there are as many different kinds of funds at the Springfield Foundation as there are donors, most of our funds fall within eight (8) main categories.

1.  Unrestricted funds, allow you to support the foundation's priority areas as identified by our board of directors.  Unrestricted funds address both the current and future needs of Clark County.  As conditions change, so do our grants--it's our job to know where your gifts will do the most good, now and in perpetuity.

2.  Field of interest funds support organizations that address the issues you care about most.  Chose a cause (or causes) close to your heart, and let the foundation take care of the details when it come time to make grants from your fund.

3.  Designated funds are ideal if you want to support one or more specific organizations.  Nonprofit groups can also establish this kind of fund as a part of their own fundraising strategy.

 4.  Donor advised funds allow you to contribute assets to your fund at any time and then recommend grants to support nonprofit organizations of your choice.  Donor advised funds are the most efficient, cost-effective alternative to establishing a private or family foundation.

5.  Scholarship funds can benefit students of any age or education level.  You have many options when determining the selection criteria for your scholarship fund, including the schools the scholarship recipients come from, the schools they will attend and ther level of financial need.

6.  Supporting organizations are separate, nonprofit corporations that operate under the community foundation's charitable umbrella.  Through its own board (on which you may choose to serve), a supporting organization determines its own investment strategy and grant priorities.  Supporting organizations are another great alternative to private foundations.

7. Charitable Checking funds  are perfect for streamlining your annual giving.  This non-endowed, donor advised fund allows you to contribute assets to your fund at any time and then recommend grants to support nonprofit organizations of your choice.

8.  Agency funds are created by local nonprofit organizations that wish to take advantage of the Springfield Foundation’s financial management and administrative resources, including advice on increasing endowments through planned giving. These endowments provide an ongoing source of income for operations and programs.
