About Us
An affiliate of the Springfield Foundation, the African American Community Fund (AACF) exists to encourage philanthropy among African-Americans in Clark County. AACF provides resources for a broad range of current and future charitable needs throughout our community.
A Legacy of Caring
Clark County's African-American community has always had a rich tradition of giving to important causes. In 2004, a group of African Americans came together to form this endowment and family of funds at the Springfield Foundation. As in other communities, this was developed as an additional resource to make an enduring impact on the community. This founding group consisted of Robert Burton, Waverly Glover, and Lester Smithers.
Family of Funds
Along with the endowment, AACF has a family of funds which are comprised of donor-created scholarship and endowment funds that benefit the African-American community. These funds target local nonprofit organizations and scholarships that help young people reach their educational goals. As donors create new funds that join the family, AACF's impact will grow even further by continually improving the quality of life for everyone in Clark County.
Objectives
- To receive gifts, grants, and bequests for specific and broad African-American community charitable interests.
- To advise and assist donors who would benefit from the use of the fund to achieve their charitable goals.
- To award grants from the endowment fund to benefit charitable causes and programs worthwhile to African-Americans.

Putting Your Support to Work
The African American Community Fund endowment is invested and generates income that is used to provide support to nonprofit organizations in our community.
Grants are made on behalf of our donors, at the suggestion of our Board of Advisors. Acting as a conduit, we bring together individuals who wish to support organizations providing services to our community.
